Ann Taylor Fall 2011

On Wednesday night, I headed downtown to Beauty & Essex to catch a sneak preview of Ann Taylor’s Fall line. I’ve long been a fan of Ann Taylor and it’s little sister, Loft, and I’ve noticed that they’ve been stepping up their game lately. This collection, organized by mood into smaller capsule collections, serves up the perfect mix of classic Ann Taylor career separates and statement pieces for conservative and trendy girls alike.

CITY CHIC is August’s offering of bright neutrals: white, black, beige and bold red, and expertly transitions Spring 2011’s obsession with colorblocking into cooler weather.

If this gorgeous scarlet satchel is any indication, we’ll all be carrying red handbags this fall.

CAREER CHIC is a well edited selection of black and white pieces that go well beyond workwear. This sleeveless coat, similar to a Michael Kors coat I admired back in 2009, was a standout - and is going on my own shopping list.

SPORTY LUXE takes us into September with rich tones and mixed textures like lace, faux fur, shimmery silks, and all types of tweeds. The fall collection as a whole carries a decidedly 70s vibe, and it’s most evident here, with floppy wool hats and wide legged trousers.
The perfect mix of materials - fur, nylon, wool, gold lame, leather - I’m dying.

UPTOWN CHIC brings us taupey beige, shine, and muted leopard print. Between this and the red pants in the color block collection, I could’ve jumped right in!

Lastly, WEAR NOW gave us edgy pieces in a slick black and rusty brown palette. I could’ve been distracted by deep V neck sweaters and collarless leather jackets, but I was really honed in on the jewelry. I think I need some of these modern pendants now!

Speaking of accessories, those tasseled two-tone loafers are calling. my. name.
Thanks so much to Sara for letting me tag along, and to Julie at Ann Taylor for having me. Check out Ann Taylor’s Facebook page for more photos!
