I'm Mariel. My style is caught somewhere between a prepster obsession with plaid and the hard hitting trends of the big city. A Little Bit Rock And Roll

CIMG3973

Tuesday, April 20

Worn to work and to book club - this month’s read was Little Bee, a story about an African refugee in London. It’s a sad story but so beautifully written - I highly recommend it!

The Outfit…

Khaki Trench Coat - Banana Republic

Leopard Silk Blouse - Banana Republic

Black Pencil Skirt - Ann Taylor

Tangled Chain Necklace - Club Monaco, gift from co-workers

Black Suede Booties - Marc Jacobs via Deja Vu Boutique (Tampa, FL)

Tortoiseshell Wayfarers - Thrifted

Black Ruched Leather Bag - Bally

Coffee - Starbucks ;)

Of all the ways I’ve worn this leopard top (plus the many, many pre-blog wears), I don’t think I’ve ever worn it with black. That epiphany is what started this outfit, which set a more edgy tone to my outfit than my usual fare. I went with it, grabbing my MJ booties and tying this necklace on as a belt. (It has leather straps which usually tie in a bow at my neck, but here they also served to extend the belt to waist-width.) It’s quite a special day when I turn Ann Taylor and Banana Republic clothes into a (still very tame) rocker chic ensemble!
